This volume, the sixth in the series of Quaderni del Centro Archivi del MAXXI Architettura, gathers together and recounts plans, theoretical writings, hypotheses of calculations, and small models made using improbable materials like soap bubbles and ropes that tell the story of the engineer Sergio Musumeci’s visionary ideas. The texts, an interview that never took place, documents, and images reproduced here give a visual and textual description of a multi-faceted journey and reconstruct Musumeci’s thought and design methodology. Richly illustrated, the book includes some views of the exhibition for which this volume was published, offering an even more detailed witness to the labour of study, recovery, and restoration of the documentation, encompassing more than just plans, collected in the archive.
