MAXXI BVLGARI PRIZE 2020

Published in conjunction with the MAXXI Bulgari Prize exhibition, the book documents the work of finalists Giulia Cenci, Tomaso De Luca, and Renato Leotta, with text and heretofore unpublished images connected with the works in the show. Besides contributions by the director Pietromarchi and curator Giulia Ferracci, the book offers essays by the Prize judges and texts by art historians, in-depth reflections that place the development of these artists in context. The result is an efficacious picture of our time: the hybrid creatures of Giulia Cenci, “uncovered” houses in movement by Tomaso De Luca, and suspended time portrayed in the video by Renato Leotta describe a fluid, nostalgic world, a still-emerging panorama in which everything has already happened and humankind has to accept its condition of survivor.
