Published on the occasion of the exhibition at MAXXI, this volume investigates the political body, the set of statements that in the author’s texts recall the system of anarchy of power and sex as a metaphor for the consumption and commodification of bodies. Starting from 1975, the year of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s death, texts, documents and the works of 18 contemporary artists are collected, whose works in the exhibition recall the themes addressed by the author. From San Paolo to Lettere Luterane, from Salò to Petrolio, to name a few contributions, the catalogue brings together typescripts, scene images, film stills, newspaper articles and portraits that offer an exhaustive look at the author’s last production. At the same time, the curators’ texts focus on the works of art in the exhibition: installations, videos, digital prints and paintings by Italian and international artists that capture Pasolini’s vision and thought, bringing it up to date to the present day.
