Part of the MAXXI Arte Collection Focus Series, the volume accompanies the eponymous exhibition celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the editorial activity of the magazine “segno,” whose archive has been acquired by MAXXI, a heritage that still generates questions and new research perspectives today. The book includes an unpublished interview with Umberto Sala, founder of the periodical together with Lucia Spadano, an essay by Paolo Balmas that traces the history of the magazine, a text by Giulia Pedace dedicated to the archival collection, and a contribution by Giulia Cappelletti focused on the places documented by “segno” in Italy and abroad. The result is an exceptional mapping of the contemporary that ranges from provincial realities to the main artistic centers in Italy and abroad with the aim of “telling, meeting, and understanding the world of art.”
