Zerocalcare. Scavare fossati, nutrire coccodrilli

The catalogue of Zerocalcare’s major exhibition at MAXXI in Rome (10 November 2018 – 10 March 2019) was prepared by BAO and contains four stories in cartoons published here for the first time, critical essays by Claudio Calia, Francesca Romana Elisei, Oscar Glioti, and Loredana Liperini, and hundreds of drawings rarely or never seen before, spanning more than fifteen years of life and work of this artist from Rebibbia. It is an important book for the personal story of a cartoonist and for a period of recent history, presented in the same format as Macerie prime and rendered invaluable by a chronology from 1999 to 2018, compiled by Oscar Glioti, which places Zerocalcare in context with a precision never before achieved in writings about him.
